The Man and I headed off to John Dory's Canal Walk for an impromptu lunch the other day .We ordered our drinks and some half price sushi to start.
The sushi wasn't bad, pretty standard the only comments that passed between us was that the soya sauce was very salty. Much saltier that what we are used to having at other restaurants.
We both opted for the daily special of hake and chips for R25. Bargain! When it arrived grilled as requested we noted the pieces being a bit small, but in the end we decided they were actually the perfect size for a lunch time meal. Very tasty and cooked well. Half way through eating our meal the manageress walked passed our table and rather loudly addressed her staff with “ Please, please you MUST wash your hands!” . She was talking to the sushi chefs. A look of absolute horror passed between The Man and I.
Do we want to be eating at a restaurant where the staff need to be reminded to wash their hands because they are working with raw fish!! Also should the manageress be shouting this kind of thing front of house in front of customers!?
I don't think we will be back for some time. If ever.
